Joining the Game Late
Going forward, we are changing the penalties for joining the game late.
You may join the game up to one hour after cards are in the air. That is, for the first three levels of play. Previously, you could join the game up to the end of level four.
If you join during a level, you will be docked 1.5 blinds for that level (One big blind, and one small blind.)
If you miss a level, you will be docked three blinds for that level. (Previously, 1.5 blinds.)
There is a five minute grace period after the start of the game where you can join with no penalty.
Examples:
If you join the game halfway through the first blind level, you will be docked $300 – one big and one small blind.
If you join the game halfway through the second blind level, you will be docked $1200 – one big and one small blind for the current level, plus three big blinds for the previous level.

Points-paying games
The first two games on all regular scheduled nights will pay points. Subsequent games, if any, will not pay points unless otherwise announced.
The GSOP points formula is:
Points = 10 * [√(#entrants / finish)] (Points equal ten times the square root of the number of entrants, divided by your finish – e.g. 2nd place.) Points take into account the size of the starting field and the place you finish. Any player who participates in a game will receive a minimum of 10 points, even if they are the first eliminated.
Payouts
- 6 or fewer players pays top two
- 7 to 12 players pays top three
- 13 to 18 players pays top four
- 19 or more players pays top five
- Payout percentages are given below:

Chopping
In the case of a chop, the pot will be divided in the manner decided by the remaining players. GSOP points will be distributed strictly according to stack size.
GSOP Pot
Players participating in any GSOP points-paying games will be required to pay $5 per game. Players may not opt out. The host will receive $20 from the night’s GSOP pot. The remainder goes to the year’s GSOP prize pool.
Prizes
The final GSOP prize pool is divided into three parts. Dinner for the Main Event freeroll, along with any trophies, bracelets, or other prizes, are paid for from the prize pool.
Of the remaining monies, 30% goes to the GSOP Player of the Year: the player with the most GSOP points. The remaining 70% constitutes the prize pool for the year end Main Event freeroll.
The Main Event
The GSOP will culminate in a deep stack free-roll – The Main Event. The event prize pool comes entirely from the GSOP prize pool (See above.) The Main Event will take place after the last regular game of the year. There will be no re-buys or add-ons. Starting chips are based on GSOP points.
