Let’s have some discussion on the end-of-year tournament. How many chips should people have?

I vote for deep stack, maybe 50K?

The way it looks right now, the front-runners will have somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000 – 1200 points at year’s end. If we say a point is worth 40 chips, then we’re talking 30,000 – 40,000 in starting chips for the top 5-6 players, and maybe 4,000 or so for the bottom players.

dont want to make it too deep or the guy who paid in twice only will still have time and chips to take their time. We will need to get closer to the end and see how many points will actually be there…

      • mark says:

I’m pretty sure the end points will be 800-1000 points for the top players. We have played 1/4 of the games (JAN/FEB/MAR) and the top players have around 200-250 points.

So 15 chips per point is a regular garage game. 30 chips per point would be double that.

        • Hoolign says:

          25 chips per point tentatively…
          thats pretty deep stack

          • mark says:

25 per point would only be 20K-25K for the points leaders.

          • Hoolign says:

25000 isnt deep enough with blinds at 25-25? thats like 1000 Big Blinds!

          • mark says:

I was thinking a garage game, which is nominally 15K to start with, so 20-25K was less than double.

It’s up to everybody I guess. Are we talking doing a 100/200/15K style game? or a 25/25/10K style game?

And you know that normal accounting doesn’t work at our games, not when Hollywood regularly tosses in 30-80 blinds. 🙂

Also, when it’s a big game, it’s effectively a super-turbo game as you only get one orbit (or less) per blind level.

          • mark says:

Let’s pretend that everyone stays exactly where they are until year’s end. So Brian would win, Derrick would take second, you would take fifth, etc. What kind of chip stacks do you want to see?

At 10 points, Brian gets 14K and you get 11K.
At 25 points, Brian gets 24K and you get 18K.
At 35 points, Brian gets 33K and you get 25K.

        • mark says:

Also, I was thinking it was to be a no-rebuy, no-add-on game, which makes the effective chip stacks smaller.

      • mark says:

The guy who paid in twice will have something like 20-30 points, so he’d be starting out at around 1000 chips, which would be pretty short – about 1/10th – 1/15th of a standard starting stack.

Oh FFS! You mean the next incredibly distracting basketball game is this Saturday?

Im bringin 2 cases of Bud Light….
Freed mentioned delaying the early bird but never finalized… this would be due to the incredibly annoying Wichita State Shockers who happened to defy all odds and make it to the their first final four in 48 years and play @ 5:00PM.
